Jazz Ensemble Director's Workshop (only $50!)is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, January 28 & 29 from 6-9pm on the Riverside Campus. The workshop is a hands-on experience for the teaching of jazz in the classroom. We’re excited to present two outstanding jazz educators to work with participants. Jeff Tower: On Wednesday, 6-9pm January 28, in Stover Music Hall. Mr. Tower is the long-time director of bands at Hemet HS, and known nationally for his outstanding work in the field of jazz education. Jill Geist: On Thursday, 6-9 January 29, in Stover Music Hall. Ms. Geist is the former director of bands at Pioneer JrHS and current director at Ramirez MS. She is well known for her outstanding work in jazz education. Tune Up Jazz Festival is scheduled for Saturday, February 21 on the Riverside City Campus. The event is an opportunity for jazz ensembles to receive a 2-hour clinic with jazz educators in a relaxed but educational environment. The RCC Jazz Ensemble will also perform at noon. RCC Jazz Festival 2014 THE RCC INSTRUMENTAL JAZZ FESTIVAL 2015 is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9 on the Riverside City Campus. The morning and afternoon concerts will feature the RCC Jazz Ensembles and our guest artist, Luis Bonilla, who perform with several of the bands and give a master class each day in the afternoon. Mr. Bonilla, a fabulous trombonist with So Cal roots that now works and performs jazz and Latin music in New York, including with the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Other master classes will also be offered throughout both days by RCC Jazz Faculty.More information and applications are available on the Jazz Festival page.
